Democratic Mayors Association Statement on Juneteenth

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Democratic Mayors Association (DMA) issued the following statement in commemoration of the 160th anniversary of Juneteenth:

“Today, we recognize the 160th anniversary of Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery and the liberation of Black Americans across the nation. Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of our progress and the work still needed to achieve true justice and equality for all.

This Juneteenth, we honor the resilience of Black Americans and their many contributions to our communities while acknowledging the hardships they have endured in pursuing freedom and civil rights. As Mayors, we will continue to put equity at the center of our work and reaffirm our commitment to dismantling the deep-rooted impacts of racial injustices in our communities.”
