Democratic Mayors Association Statement on GOP Budget Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Democratic Mayors Association released the following statement after House Republicans passed their latest budget:

“Let’s call this what it is — Trump’s Big Ugly Bill — a reckless, billionaire-first plan that guts health care, slashes food assistance, and strips away jobs from working families, all while handing out massive tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy.

The GOP promised to lower costs — but this bill does the opposite. It makes the biggest cuts to Medicaid in U.S. history, hikes energy prices, and balloons the national debt. Cities will be left to clean up the mess — with fewer resources and more families falling through the cracks.

While Republicans choose tax cuts for billionaires over care for communities, Democratic Mayors are stepping up — delivering jobs, housing, and stability in every corner of the country.”
