Alexandria’s Mayor Alyia Gaskins is kicking off two new programs: the Mayoral Youth Forum and the Mayoral Interfaith Council.
The first Mayoral Youth Forum is happening on Saturday, March 29. It’s open to Alexandria teens between 14 and 18 years old, giving them a chance to share their ideas and advice with the mayor on important issues.
Gaskins is excited about the event, saying on Instagram, “Don’t miss the 1st Mayoral Youth Forum, where Alexandria teens (ages 14-18) can share ideas and advise the Mayor on key issues. Your voice matters.”
This forum will be a monthly event, allowing young residents to help shape the city’s future.
“I am committed to expanding opportunities for our community to help address our most pressing challenges ,” Gaskins shares on Instagram.
The Mayoral Interfaith Council will meet every three months to build community connections and encourage dialogue between different faiths.
