Statement from the Democratic Mayors’ Association on Republicans’ Government Shutdown

Washington, D.C. – Following the decision by Donald Trump and Republicans in Washington to shut down the government and put lives and livelihoods at risk, Democratic Mayors Association President and Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb shared the following statement: 

“Donald Trump and Republicans in Washington are responsible for this shutdown that will rip away health care access, paychecks, and crucial programs for millions of working families across the country. The American people want to see their government work – and unlike Republicans in Washington, Mayors don’t have the luxury of inaction. 

“Our message to Trump is simple: Do your job and keep the government open. Quit creating chaos and hampering our ability to deliver for the American people.”
