DMA Statement on Mayor-elect Sharon Owens’ Victory in Syracuse

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Democratic Mayors Association shared the following statement on Mayor-elect Sharon Owens’ historic win in Syracuse:

“Mayor-elect Sharon Owens made history tonight as voters elected her Syracuse, New York’s next mayor - and the first Black woman elected to this role. Sharon Owens has served as a community leader in Syracuse for decades, and we know Syracuse residents will be better off with her commitment and dedication to the city. From strengthening public safety to developing an inclusive and growing economy, Mayor-elect Owens has put forward an important vision for Syracuse that will help the city thrive.”
