Democratic Mayors Association Statement on the Recent Federal Escalation in Los Angeles

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Democratic Mayors Association (DMA) issued the following statement in response to President Donald Trump's recent federal escalation in Los Angeles, CA:

“Let's be very clear: What President Trump is doing is not restoring order. He is creating chaos and manufacturing a crisis to serve his own political agenda. If this Administration truly cared about finding solutions and keeping Americans safe, they would be working with local and state leaders, not against them. 

As Mayors, we recognize the humanity of all people in our communities and the value of our immigrant populations. Undue actions to threaten and scare our most vulnerable neighbors do not make our communities safer, and this Administration's federal overreach continues a dangerous precedent we have already seen unfolding across our country. 

Our cities are the lifeblood and economic drivers of our country. They should be supported and celebrated to build safer, stronger communities, not used for political theatre.”
