Democratic Mayors Association Statement on the Passing of Senator Dianne Feinstein

WASHINGTON, D.C.The Democratic Mayors Association (DMA) issued the following statement in response to the passing of Senator Dianne Feinstein:

“Today, Democratic Mayors across the country mourn the passing of former San Francisco Mayor and distinguished California Senator Dianne Feinstein. Senator Feinstein was a trailblazer, leaving behind an indelible legacy of remarkable accomplishments. Throughout her career, Senator Feinstein demonstrated unwavering tenacity, perseverance, and unmatched courage. 

Her achievements span a wide array of critical issues, but her leadership on gun safety stands as an enduring testament to her commitment to the safety of our nation. In addition to gun safety, Senator Feinstein’s career included landmark achievements in climate change, healthcare, and LGBTQ+ rights. 

Senator Feinstein achieved numerous “firsts” in her career, including being the first woman Mayor of San Francisco and the first woman elected U.S. Senator of California. We will remember her as a tenacious leader and dedicated public servant who transformed lives and communities through her tireless dedication to those she served. 

The Democratic Mayors Association extends its deepest condolences to Senator Feinstein’s family, friends, and colleagues. Her legacy will forever inspire those who strive to make a difference in the world of politics and beyond.”
